Danelle Umsted’s life took an extraordinary turn when she discovered her passion for skiing at the age of 29. Guided first by her father and later by her husband, Rob, a former collegiate ski racer, Danelle became one of the most accomplished visually impaired ski racers in history.

PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY

Danelle Umstead was diagnosed at age 13 with Retinitis Pigmentosa, a degenerative eye condition that causes blindness. After discovering her love for skiing at age 29, Danelle, along with her husband, Rob, made history as the first husband-and-wife visually impaired ski racing team to compete for Team USA.
